Politico: Germany’s state-owned development bank KfW will resume operations in Syria next month by opening an office in Damascus, marking the first return of a German banking institution to the country since the fall of the former regime.
KfW suspended its activities in Syria in 2011, but has been gradually resuming cooperation since 2025. The bank says its renewed engagement will focus on reconstruction and development projects implemented through international organizations rather than direct funding to the Syrian government
