CEO
Maissa Kabbani is a Syrian American political activist and the Founder and Vice President of Global Justice, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing long-term relief for Syrian refugees. Through her humanitarian work, she has supported displaced communities across Lebanon, Turkey, and northern Syria, and was honored with the 2017 Dubai Pioneers Award in recognition of her impact.
Maissa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology and was a recipient of the Northern New Jersey Consortium Award for Medical Laboratory Technology. She has served as a Laboratory Director and Vice President in multiple hospitals across the NJ/NY metropolitan area. Her leadership in laboratory operations and process improvement was recognized and published in the American Journal of Clinical Pathology, highlighting her contributions to laboratory efficiency and management.
She also holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration, with a specialization in healthcare management. Maissa currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of a Philadelphia-based healthcare firm. In addition, she is the founder and owner of a healthcare consulting company that advises medical institutions on operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and strategic management.
Technology Strategist
Ali is a seasoned technology professional with over 14 years of experience in IT, management, and web development. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems Engineering, he has built a career focused on delivering innovative and secure digital solutions that drive business growth. Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity in Berlin, Ali is further enhancing his expertise in safeguarding and optimizing digital systems.
With a strong blend of technical knowledge and strategic vision, Ali has successfully led projects that improve efficiency, enhance user experiences, and foster organizational success. His dedication to innovation and continuous learning positions him as a trusted leader in the ever-evolving tech landscape
Researcher
Mahmoud is a researcher in political economy with a Master's degree in Business Administration. He currently serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees at Citizens for Syria and works as the Economic Reform Coordinator at The Day After organization in Turkey.
He is also a co-founder and advisor at SyriaUS Advisory, and a member of the Board of Trustees at Masahat Foundation for Development. Previously, Mahmoud worked as a researcher at Karam Shaar Ltd. His work focuses on economic policy, governance, and post-conflict reconstruction in Syria.
Senior Advisor for infrastructure
Waleed Assaf, PE, CCM, PMP, serves as our Senior Advisor for infrastructure, construction, and procurement. With over a decade of experience managing major public and private sector projects in the US and internationally, Waleed’s expertise spans transportation, utilities, tunneling, and vertical construction—including megaprojects exceeding$1 billion. He is adept in various delivery models such as Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, and Public-Private Partnerships, and has collaborated with leading infrastructure agencies and global consultancies. His skills include risk management, value engineering, and contract strategy.
As an Arab-American with deep cultural and professional ties to the region, Waleed bridges Western technical know-how with local realities, ensuring projects are executed efficiently, transparently, and with sensitivity to geopolitical dynamics. We support firms aiming to engage in Syria’s reconstruction with integrity and impact, aligning strategies with both international best practices and local context.
International Relations/Trade Consultant
Fadi Smadi is an international trade and customs expert with over 30 years of experience in economic policy, cross-border logistics, and institutional reform. He has held senior roles in the Syrian Customs Administration, including Customs Director at Damascus International Airport and Director of International Relations. Mr. Smadi has led major trade agreements and modernization efforts with global partners such as the U.S., Italy, Turkey, and South American countries. He has also worked as a consultant with the International Trade Centre (ITC), contributing to customs reform, trade transparency, and public-private collaboration. As the Founder of the North West Pacific Alliance, he now focuses on building strategic partnerships across the U.S., Middle East, and emerging post-conflict markets, offering expertise in customs compliance and trade facilitation.
Creative & Crypto Strategist
With over two decades in design, media, and operations, Mouayad blends creativity with business insight. He’s worked across the USA, Turkey, and the UAE — including as COO of Burency, leading blockchain and cryptocurrency initiatives. Now based in Syria, he’s dedicated to helping build the new Free Syria. A pro at branding, web management, and digital marketing, Mouayad is as fluent in Adobe Creative Suite as he is in English and Arabic.
